VMware Workstation unrecoverable error: (mks) occurs when starting a VMWare virtual machine

previously when my VMware workstation upgrade to 17.6.0, I found that RHEL 8 VM failed to startup. The behavior is: after the VM started, then it crashed, and gave an error as below picture.

A log file is available in “D:\VMWare\2023XRHEL8\vmware.log”.

You can request support.

To collect data to submit to VMware support, choose “Collect Support Data” from the Help menu.

You can also run the “vm-support” script in the Workstation folder directly.

We will respond on the basis of your support entitlement.

Solution 1:

The Root cause is currently that VMWare workstation 17.6.0 do have bug, so after uninstall it (choose keep license), and install VMWare 17.5.2 instead, this problems is solved.

Solution 2:

Now I found that turning off the “Accelerate 3D graphics” of the virtual machine can also solve this problem. I used VMware workstation version 17.6.1
